in the corporate
world across the
globe and more
so in India. And
if you search
in places like
Mumbai, more so in
BPO/KPO the number
of these ass
heads with their
alimentary canal upside
down grows
Himalayan, protected by
their sissy bosses
and HR and
pampered by their
wife’s/ mothers. And till they
are caught with
their pants down
or are cornered
through tough legal
battles they think
they are invincible.
Walk into any
corporations today and
speak to the
woman work force
about sexual harassment. There would
be as many as 54% who
would participate and
give names but
unofficially. The reason?
Now go
into BPO/KPO and
ask the same
question? Especially in
Mumbai.
The number
goes as high
as 79%. There will
be girls who
would love to
complain but know
nothing will come
out of it.
This is
just the tip
of the iceberg
because however far we have
come into the
21st century we
are still into
shaming the victim.
Most of
the times everyone
knows and everyone
whispers, some even
go as far
as making jokes
even though the
perpetrator is a
known repeat offender.
The HR/ CEO and
most of the
times the entire
office knows about
the lewd remarks,
showing pornography, sending lewd
SMS/ MMS, talking and
sending explicitly sexual
messages, touching, pinching,
openly inviting juniors
for sexual favors .
There is
always some proof. There
will be tremendous
proof with things
like SMS/ MMS, mails with
porn attached. At
times these perpetrators
have enough confidence
to pass lewd
remarks right in
the presence of
colleagues and juniors
who could act
as witness. Yet these
perpetrators mostly repeat
offenders have enough
courage to re-repeat
their shameful behavior despite verbal and writen complaints.Why do corporations turn a blind eye?
But First
I will try to explain
the profile of
the typical sex
offender in your
office
1.They are men
mostly in the
age bracket of 35 to 55
years of age.
2. They are usually married
with more sexual
and emotional experience
to handle women.
3.They dress well
and like to
pretend to be
younger and you
can see them
surrounded by the
younger work force.
4. They have erratic
work hours, coming too
early, working too late
and being absent
during work hours.
5. They are big
show offs. They pretend to hold
more power than
they actually hold. They exaggerate
their work profiles
and love to
drop big names
to boost their ego.
6.Many of them
suffer from alcohol
and pornography addiction.
7.They have a
low self image
with a history
of sexual harassment / assault involving
their sisters/ wives/
girlfriends/colleagues .
8.Most of them
have weight issues
and you can
see them drastically
fluctuating from the
lean and mean to
the fatso.
9.They like to
dress up in T shirts, color their
hair, talk loudly, laugh loudly and
do things that
bring attention to
themselves.
10. They use to much
cologne, perfumes, talc’s to mask
the smell of
alcohol.
11.They usually have
no respect of
hierarchy and try
to deal with the lowest
in the office
on a personal
basis.
12. Even though in high
position they love
to organize picnics,
excursions and fancy
dress parties and
get involved in
the most personal way which gives
them enough excuse
to be close
to woman on
an unofficial basis.
13.They would like almost
everyone to report
to them so
that they can be
in touch with
everyone especially
the young women.
14.They usually befriend
the younger women /subordinates because
they know the
girls are less
experienced and too
scared to report.
15.They will try
to touch you
at the least
available excuse.
A pat on
the shoulder or a
touch on the
elbow.
16.They will stand
too close when
talking.
17.Their eyes are
roving and won’t
stay on your
face too long. And if they
stay they are
trying to gauge
your fear from
which they get
the pleasure of
being powerful.
18.These men love
to smoke, drink
and get drunk at every
excuse and love
pornography.
19.They are loud,
overly happy or
sad, melodramatic and
sympathy seekers, womanizers
and charmers who love
to be
flattered and flatter.
20. They pretend to
be a mentor
and are extremely
friendly.
21.They will try
to find any
excuse to keep
you around and
if possible till
late hours. 22.They will
go out of their
way
to help you
so they can
gain your confidence.
23.They will involve
their family too
to befriend you.
24.They will try
to be friendly
but will never
show any respect
towards women.
25. They have to be reminded
that he is a
man and
the women is
lesser themselves.
26. They will comment
on the victims
dress, hair, shoes
more than necessary.
27. They love small
talk or office
gossip.
28. They will involve
the victims in long talks
relating to family, friends or
jobs just to
keep the victim
closer. 29.These men usually have superlative egos which are much fragile.
30.A raised voice,
a back answer or
a firm ‘No’ can make
him angry or
sulk for hours. They
will not stop
till they have
been apologized to and pampered.
31.Once their fragile
egos are hit
by a strong
‘No’ they pretend
to be the
wronged ones and
go around the
entire office seeking
sympathy and trying
to blame the
victim.
If more than 15 points meet the criteria of someone you know be careful that maybe a sexual predator looking for a victim and if someone meets all the above? be extremely cautious when dealing with him.
