The dream
and the dreamer
So,
you got
your first rejection.
Here is a
prayer for your
dream and the
dreamer in you.
The sky
is for everyone.
So is the sun, the moon, the
stars and the
dream.
Almost all of
us across the
face of the
earth have the same dream :
a big house,
a big car, a
cushy job, a good family, a
healthy life and lots
of happiness. May it
be so.
But
then you
are artists : a writer,
a painter, a photographer, an actor…..you
have a bigger
dream. You got to
have, for God
gave you a bigger canvas
in the hope
that you will fill it
with colors! Let us not
refuse the faith
God has in us.
Having a
dream is easy
but giving it
life is difficult. I
am sure the
one who gave
us the dream
will give us
the courage too.
Remember the
first crush? You just
cannot live without
him/ her….your breath, walking,
talking, sleeping, eating…even
the lights in
your room…. your entire
happiness, your entire
life depends on
it. That’s how we got
to feel for
our work.
Whatever we do,
let
us do it
completely, beautifully, perfectly….perfection is
almost an illusion
but then if we can
be philosophical for
a minute : what is
not? When we
can strive the
traffic, the long lines
at the ticket
window, the meager
pocket money, finding
our seats in the
darkness of the movie hall just
to see a few characters
beat the pulp
out of each
other then we can
definitely strive
towards fulfilling
our own dream.
Any work, from cooking
to cleaning to
writing or singing
has to be
done wholeheartedly to get
it to perfection. So let us
do it wholeheartedly .Don’t give
up half way.
Let nothing stop us.
Let everything from the
winds to the
sea to the
sky to the
cliffs push us
forward, towards fulfillment.
Let the
roads be full
of potholes, let there
be traffic jams, let
there be angry
drivers, a million honking,
the tyrant boss
waiting but we
have to get
to the day job….so let
our passion be
dealt alike. Let
us not stop
come what may.
There will
be many on
the way who
will tell us
that there is
a great difference
between dreams and
reality. But then these
are the ones
who had a
dream, they fell
and did not
have the courage
to dust themselves
and get up
after the fall.
So let’s be patient, let us listen
to their opinions
and learn from
their failures. But let
them not dictate
us.
We will
definitely learn
from history and
pick up lessons
from the heroes and
martyrs for there
is not enough
time in this
life to make
the same mistakes
or win the
same hill again
and again. If we want
to drive a
car we definitely
don’t reinvent the
wheel! We just
buy a car, the
best if possible
and go on
from there.
There are tried
and tested ways. We
will learn them
well . And then we
will find our
own Everest to
conquer.
We will
have our families and
friends telling
us, we won’t make
enough money. So
what ? at least we
will get to
do what we
love. And then
only God knows
what’s in store
for the future.
Who knows if we are
going to be
the next bestseller? Who knows if
our writing will
influence an entire
generation? Who know if we
will get to
buy fort Knox?
Who knows
but our future!
So let our
future decide.
We will
have those ahead
of us tell us
the perils, the
heart break and
the lonely nights
where we will
get to share
our desperation with
nothing but our
own marrow. So be
it….maybe there is
a world waiting
for us to
be born and
grow into something
not just popular
but great! And greatness
always demands a
price. Let’s have the
courage, conviction and
persistence to pay
the price.
We will get
rejection slips. But we
will not dwell
in it too
long. They don’t
believe in our
dream but that
doesn’t mean we
don’t either. It’s our
dream after
all Just because they
reject our dream
doesn’t mean we
reject it ourselves! . It’s our
life and nobody
gets to live
it for us.
Strive. Let
the gurus tell us where
to tread softly and
where to stomp
our feet loud
and clear. But let
the thorns on the
path not scare
us, for there
are roses ahead.
We can smell them already,
don’t we?
We are meant to
grow like the
trees, slow and
steady. Like our very
bones.
A Dream
is like an
infant. Just because the
infant didn’t grow
up instantly
our mothers didn’t
dump us and
chose something for
instant gratification! Our
dream cannot not
be a
new year’s resolution. New year
resolutions are for
weight loss or
to quit smoking
and not our
dreams.
Let’s hold on
to our dream. Beware, a
dream never dies
a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness
and betrayals, it
dies of errors
and too much of reason, it dies
of neglect,
regret and a
burdened past. It dies
of weariness, withering,
tarnishing and a
fear of future.
True passion must undergo and withstand all adversity before it
is entitled to its
worthy reward. So let
us have the
passion and the
reasons to make
it.
Our day
will come.
A dream needs
first and
foremost patience.
It requires
continuous attention and
love.
Adoration and
dedication.
It requires
freedom from negativity .
It requires
learning things that we
don’t even know existed. It requires
curiosity.
At times we have
to unlearn what we have
learned.
Let’s not just be a witness
to the re-lived
tales.
And refuse to
surrender : to sloth,
to frustration, to
distress, to anger,
rejection.…let’s have freedom
even within our four walls.
Let’s not lose
hope. Let’s us not
give up our
prayers. If not God
then the devil
is listening. We will
get paid for
our persistence. I have
to believe it
or else I
would be dead.
Let us not ponder
too much on
the times we have
fallen down. There is truth beyond the
fall. Has to
be or else
all of us
would have been
crawling on our
fours!
It’s a
war, and we can’t
deny if we
want our peace.
There is a sky
that hopes we
will fly someday.
There is
an earth that
is ready to
push us off
its edge.
We have
the wings we just don’t know it
yet!
Well,
this is a
prayer I
send to myself
and my God every
single night so that under no
circumstance I
betray my own
dream when dawn
comes.
